56 Oval Beetle Ragtop RHD

This Oval was imported from South Africa to the UK in 1965 by its original owner. I have had the bug for 13 years now and in that time we have done a full body off resto to make the bug 100% solid. This restoration was at least 10 years ago now but in that time I have only used the Oval for about 8000 miles and the rest of the time it has been dry stored away.
At the time of the resto we changed the gear box to a 1500 to get a higher end speed and the electrics have been changed over to 12 volt. The engine is a 1200cc engine which runs very well, does drop a bit of oil but has not bothered me really. I do have a 1641 long block that has been freshly rebuilt and I was going to put that in, so if interested this could still be done at a extra price.
I have just MOTed the bug in December 08, so has 11 months to run and the tax is 11 months as well ( but free of course ), the oval had no problems in getting though the MOT. From the last MOT to this MOT I had travelled about 350 miles, so really do not use the bug much, which is a shame.
The body work is good but does have a couple of small age related marks and a small dent on the drivers side. The paint work was done before I had the car and it is still very nice, not a show winner but nice as you can see in the pics.
The inside was trimmed with TMI covers and they are in good condition front and back, the door cards are also good but there has been speaker holes cut into the front ones. The rag top was a TMI reproduction as well and is in very good condition, but does really need to be valet. The ragtop is a original factory fitted Goldie ragtop as shown in the pictures.
The bug is fitted with a adjustable front beam and has been taken down a couple of splines on the rear, so if needed I can raise her back for you.
The reg is a C reg as it was imported onto the UK in 65 so was given a C, it can be changed to a non age related plate free of charge by DVLA as they do not like cars been on the wrong age related plate....I have just never got around to doing this.
I am selling the oval without the original empi sprintstars to keep the price as low as I can take it, but they can be added to the price for £750. The wheels will be a set of OG 5 wide with the same tyres on the car now, so low profile ones to keep the look.

The price is £4000 which I believe is well below the market value, not to mention the RHD ragtop part.....again , but time of year and climate reflect this.

Certified '55

For most classic car enthusiasts, the thrill of the hunt is often more exciting than the actual find itself, and for a select few, uncovering unexpected gems is the ultimate coup de grâce. Mitchell Lovell and his brother Tristan had one of those 'shed-find' encounters, when they bought what they believed to be a 1957 Oval ragtop Beetle, only to discover later that they had in fact stumbled across a 1955!

lar Opposites - 1950 Split

More than almost any other, this car has split the VW scene in two - some love it and, unbelievably, some hate it. Read on to find out why

Just what is it that makes someone go to the extraordinary lengths required to put together a car like this? A car that has been rebuilt with as much skill, care and attention to detail as any Bugatti, Porsche or Bentley. And I don't use the word extraordinary lightly as, in its truest sense, that's exactly what this car is. It's not just another clean Resto Cal Split, it's an exercise in perfection. And that way madness lies.

Seven Year Itch
A Wild '58 Street Custom Worth the Wait

Armed with overwhelmingly ambitious modifications, this darting blue '58 Sunroof Beetle is a peripheral window to the more wild side of its owner, Bruce Fredriksen.
More mild than wild in manner, the 29-year-old, Everett, Wash.,-resident livens up, however, to the highly distinguishable exhaust note of a VW engine.

"I guess you could say I'm a real Volkswagen junkie," said Fredricksen, who has spent the past seven years completely modifying the Sedan throughout and performing most of the work himself --a considerable feat, considering the Bug was once a complete wreck.

Fast Times

Smoking tires and a pile of rubber: an image most wouldn't expect from the wheels of a typical Volkswagen.

Smoking tires and a pile of rubber: an image most wouldn't expect from the wheels of a typical Volkswagen. Nevertheless, it's the most vivid memory I have of this wonderfully equipped '62 Beetle; a far cry from anything typical.

While appearing predominately stock, make no mistake, this Sunroof Sedan is built for staunch performance. Belonging to Richard and Dawn Pittman, the Bug is the end result of a comprehensive three-year project. The Orange Park, Fla., residents purchased the car over 10 years ago from only its second owner. Richard, 33, still remembers the day well, driving away as the entire family of the former owner stood waiving goodbye at the curb. "They owned the car for twenty-three years" said Pittman, "It must have been like loosing a family member".

Bare Metal Oval

At first glance, this bare metal ‘57 Oval could be mistaken as simply a ratter, but move beyond the exterior disguise and you soon realise that this is more than just a fashion statement. Dino Jugovac has incorporated a level of design excellence and engineering initiatives into this small window bug that wedges it firmly into a category that blends hard core streeter with race bred technology. The bare metal look is soon to give way to a coat of paint, but before grabbing the gun, Dino invited VWMA to have a look at the work he has put into the vehicle at this raw stage...

Bob's 2001 Mexican Beetle Import

Here are some photos of my father-in-law’s pride and joy. Bob ordered it from Beetles UK in 2001 as a brand new Mexican import. He wanted it to stand out, so ordered it in a deep Metallic Blue finish along with a Ragtop and a RHD conversion. He then added a fully remote Sony stereo and upgraded the speakers. Since then he has used the car as a daily driver until a few months ago when he decided he wanted to add some extras. A new two-inch narrowed front beam fitted with CB-dropped spindles and a ‘fats and small’ combo of Porsche Fuchs 4.5-inch alloys at the front with 145 tyres and Porsche Fuchs 5-inch alloys at the rear with 205 tyres, now give the car its stance.

Resto Cal Heaven - '60 Beetle

There’s no better way to say it – this 1960 Ragtop Deluxe is Resto Cal Heaven!

Being British, it's not hard to dream of living somewhere warm and sunny like California - a place where car culture is king and you can roll a Resto Cal Bug on a daily basis. But it's only a dream... I certainly couldn't do my daily commute in a car like this stunning '60 Ragtop. One winter and it would look a shadow of the car you see here. Ever noticed the way top quality VW products from the States lose their lustre in our climate? Take a Gene Berg traction bar or linkage, for example, or an A-1 muffler; fit one to a VW in California and it'll look the same in five years. Here? It'll look crap within one.

1964 Custom Beetle Ragtop Sedan For Sale

The world of custom VWs is pretty wide and the creativity that goes into the cars is simply amazing.
From mild to wild...if it can be done...it has been done.
This car, while not quite in the "wild" catagory, sure stands out in the pack.
Obviously the first reason for this is the color combination which is very eye catching, but secondly
the choice of what areas were painted each color...its not often that you see a color split like this and
Ive gotta say I really like the looks of it.

This is an eye catcher!
Volksworld Magazine featured Resto Cal 57 is quite the show piece.
From it's eye burning color combo to it's hardcore dropped stance and clean performance drivetrain
it is a very slick ride indeed.
